i just bought an older house and the people who lived there before me had several dogs and cats in the house. apparently, they people didnt know that dogs potty outside and cats use a litterbox or go outside. the carpets are completely disgusting. what can i do to get that smell out? i have had them shampooed and steam cleaned, but that smell is still there. i really dont want to have to rip up the carpets? can they be saved?

I have a shower that i think is fiberglass or that plastic stuff. It gets soap scum and whatnot on the bottom and sides.
I was hoping that some of you could make some recommendations. I have used those rectangular white sponges that have cleaning stuff in it, and that seems to work, but I was wanting alternatives as well. Perhaps some sort of spray or something.

How do you clean gum out of clothes, carpet, etc?
